A molding station for molding a plastic parison into a plastic container, wherein the molding station has two side supports for supporting the sides of a blow mold and preferably a base support for supporting the base of the blow mold. The sides and the base of the blow mold together form a hollow space in which the plastic parison can be molded into a plastic container by applying a free-flowing medium. At least one of the two side supports for opening and/or closing the blow mold is rotatable about a predetermined main shaft relative to the other side, and the molding station is provided with a locking mechanism for locking one side support to the other in the closed state of the blow mold. The locking mechanism has a first locking element rotatable about a predetermined rotating shaft and intermeshing with a second locking element to lock the side. According to the present invention, at least one of the two locking elements has a first contact surface adapted to cooperate with a second contact surface of the second locking element during locking therewith, wherein at least one of the contact surfaces is designed such that the two side supports are pressed against each other during the rotational operation of the first locking element toward the second locking element about the rotating shaft.
