The invention relates to a plastic fuel tank and a preparation method thereof. The raw materials of the plastic fuel tank comprise the following components in parts by weight: 50–90 parts of high-density polyethylene resin, 10–50 parts of barrier polymer fiber, and 0–10 parts of compatibilizer. Continuous barrier polymer fiber is melt-impregnated with high-density polyethylene resin, then cooled and cut into pellets of corresponding length, and the pellets are sent to a hollow blow molding machine for blow molding to obtain the plastic fuel tank. Compared with the prior art, the plastic fuel tank prepared by the invention has the characteristics of good barrier property, simple process, low cost and the like.
